Admission

IGSB accepts applications year-round. To begin the online application process, please visit www.igsbs.org and fill out the form after clicking on “Apply Now.“ Our admission staff will respond to the form, and then the rest of application process can be completed online.

To apply for study in any of the degree programs of IGSB, the applicant must ordinarily present the following application components:

  • A completed general application form (Online Registration)
  • A letter of recommendation: an ecclesiastical recommendation from the pastor of the church which the applicant is a member, or an academic recommendation from a college or seminary professor under whose guidance the applicant has pursued studies. Choose one of them. (Send it through an official email of IGSB to administrator). It must include contents such as the applicant’s spiritual maturity and depth of faith, interpersonal relationships and ability to work within a community, character and commitment to Christian values, and ministry involvement
  • Academic records for each degree program;

◾Applicants for the M.A. Program: Official Trascript (TOR) and Diploma from a four year bachelor’s degree (B.A., B.D., B.Sc., B.Th.)

◾Applicants for the Th.D. Program: Official Transcript (TOR) and Diploma from a four year bacheolor’s degree (B.A., B.D., B.Sc., B.Th.) / Transcript of Record (TOR) and Disploma from a M.A. in Theology

◾Applicants for the Th.M/Ph.D. Joint Program: Transcript of Record (TOR) and Diploma from a four year bachelor’s degree/ Transcript of Record (TOR) and Diploma from a Master of Divinity (M.Div. or its equivalent) or a Master of Theology (Th.M.)

  1. An English essay: All applicants must submit a short personal statement(500-700 words) explaining why they are applying to IGSB, describing their personal background, conversion, academic ability, calling and vision for ministry, financial plans and future plan.
  2. Application Fee of $20. The application fee is non-refundable.

IGSB may also make one or more requests before granting admission as follows: a physician’s health certificate and a certificate of English proficiency (TOEFL or IELTS).

The result of an applicant’s admission will be announced later on the main screen of the graduate school website after the Admission Committee reviews all the documents submitted.

Enrollment Deposit

All accepted students must confirm their desire to begin studies at IGSB with a $50.00 deposit to be paid by two weeks after receipt of acceptance notice. This deposit will be used towards the tuition of the students’ first course.

 

Furthermore, accepted applications are valid for a maximum of 12 months; after this point a prospective student must re-apply.

Orientation

At the beginning of each academic year, an orientation for students is given; attendance is mandatory. The purpose of the orientation is to introduce students about the IGSB online platform use and policies, including the resources of the e-library and on campus library (BSTGC).

Application Documents Guidelines

Personal Statement (Essay) Guidelines

Applicants must submit a five-page personal statement that includes the following essential aspects
– Calling and Ministry Experience
– Describe your spiritual calling and how you came to pursue theological studies.
– Outline any ministry experience, including leadership roles, missionary work, community service, or pastoral responsibilities.
– Academic Ability
– Provide information about your educational background and relevant academic strengths.
– Explain your ability to engage in theological studies, including skills such as research, critical thinking, and biblical interpretation.
– Personal Background
– Share details about your upbringing and life experiences that have shaped your faith and character.
– Highlight any challenges you have overcome and how they have contributed to your personal and spiritual growth.
– Financial Plan
– Explain how you plan to finance your seminary education.
– Include details about personal savings, sponsorships, scholarships, church support, or other financial arrangements.
– Vision for Ministry
– Outline your goals after graduation and the specific area of ministry you wish to pursue.
– Describe how theological education will equip you to serve the church and community effectively.

 

  • Formatting Requirements
    – Length: Five pages
    – Font: Times New Roman, 12pt
    – Spacing: Double-spaced
    – Margins: 1-inch all around
    – Language: English
    – File format : PDF

Recommendation Letters

Applicants must submit two recommendation letters as part of their application to IGSB:

  • Pastoral Recommendation Letter
    – Written by the applicant’s senior pastor or a Korean missionary who has personally observed their spiritual growth and ministry involvement.
    – Should include an assessment of the applicant’s:
    – Spiritual maturity and depth of faith.
    – Interpersonal relationships and ability to work within a community.
    – Character and commitment to Christian values.
    – Vision for ministry and dedication to serving God’s kingdom.
    – The recommender must also commit to submitting periodic progress reports during the applicant’s studies to ensure they remain diligent and faithful in their coursework.

 

  • Academic Recommendation Letter
    – Written by a professor from the applicant’s previous theological institution.
    – Should evaluate the applicant’s:
    – Intellectual ability to succeed in an English-language curriculum.
    – Commitment to evangelical faith and theological studies.
    – Academic discipline, study habits, and participation in class.

 

  • Formatting Requirements
    – Length: One to two pages per letter
    – Font: Times New Roman, 12pt
    – Spacing: Single-spaced
    – Margins: 1-inch all around
    – Language: English
    – File format : PDF
